Durante la conferenza al Nintendo World 2011, Iwata ha mostrato le principali caratteristiche di questo nuovo simulatore di cuccioli: la nuova funzione Street Pass della console permetterà ai nostri cuccioli di giocare con gli altri possessori del gioco anche con la scheda disinserita mentre la fotocamera frontale permetterà al nostro cucciolo di riconoscerci anche attraverso il viso e non solo con la voce. Le foto in 3D dei nostri cagnolini e gattini potranno essere salvate sulla console e diffuse ad altri giocatori attraverso la comunicazione WiFi della console. Sul profilo tecnico il gioco risulta ancor più dettagliato, con i modelli degli animali ancor più ricchi, dotati di occhi poligonali che li renderanno ancor più realistici.

Konno:Yes. The system is compatible with AR Cards4. It's just a little extra, but when you use the camera to view the AR Card with the question mark on it, which comes with the system, your puppy will jump on top of that card.
4. AR Card (augmented reality card): A way of playing games with the Nintendo 3DS system by using the system's camera to place data from an AR Card onto images of objects in the real world.
Miyamoto:You can have it sit in your hand!
Konno:If you put the card on your shoulder, your dog will get on your shoulder!
Iwata:Either way is okay! (laughs)
Konno:Yeah. And it will learn tricks.
Miyamoto:It will shake hands in the palm of your hand!
Konno:And do back flips there, too. And you can take 3D photos of it with the camera.
